Our job is to bring back grit, sweat, and soul to modern day living, and to pay our lessons forward to the next generation. This is an over-built 38L gym bag complete with old school vibes and old school values. Use it hard.

The original Claymore Bag was developed by the U.S. Army to carry the M18A1 Claymore Mine, the M57 Firing Device, and the M4 Blasting Cap Assembly with a 100 foot cord. These three pieces were placed in the two large pouches at the front of the bag so that individuals could easily carry them until needed.

Using that design with the two large front pockets, we updated the bag to include a slim zipper pocket in the back for notebooks or iPads, two heavy duty buckles, and an adjustable shoulder strap.

For materials, we chose the strongest possible duck canvas with a waxing process proven over the last 170 years, giving a retro look with the durability you'd expect from GORUCK.

The Claymore Mine was named by its inventor Norman MacLeod after a large medieval Scottish sword.

As they always do, once the mine was used soldiers found that the empty bags worked great to carry extra rations, additional ammunition and personal items. This new Claymore Sling Bag follows in this tradition and makes an excellent messenger or vacation bag wherever you go. The Claymore Sling Bag is perfect to carry a book, iPad, shemagh, notebook and water bottle.

Unlike traditional bags that trap moisture and funk in, this breathable mesh duffel is made for the beach or the pool or for housing wet clothes and dirty shoes after a long ruck. The open design lets wet towels, swimsuits, shoes and gear breathe (which cuts down on funk!) while sand and dirt shake out, and an interior closed pocket keeps your wallet and sunglasses clean, dry, and protected. Any day spent on land or in a boat where you use this bag to its max is a good day.

Designed by and for Tier 1 and Precision Rifle Shooters with very specific requirements in a very limited run. This mat is designed to thrive in the dirt, gravel, mud, and concrete of a long day at the range or in the field. It provides just enough protection without sacrificing the "connected" feel required for a stable shooting position. Cadre have also been known to use it as a sleeping mat.

DETAILS

1. The Foundation: Rugged, 1000D MULTICAM CORDURA

The top layer and the underbelly are constructed fully from 1000D MultiCam CORDURA for bombproof durability. If you are shooting on wet ground or snow, the ballistic nylon will prevent ground moisture and cold from seeping up into your clothes and dropping your core temp. 1000D also acts as a non-slip surface when you press your weight forward.

2. The Cushion: 10mm High-Density, Closed-Cell Foam + 1.5 mm HDPE (frame sheet style protection)

We exclusively use closed-cell foam. Open-cell foam acts like a sponge and we hate that. If a mat is too soft, your elbows will sink unevenly, and your pulse will bounce the rifle. That’s bad. Our mat hits the the sweet spot with 10mm of closed cell foam sandwiching 1.5mm of lightweight HDPE Backing - enough to protect your elbow and ribs from sharp rocks without sacrificing the rigid stability required for precision shots.

3. The Bipod Catch

To shoot a precision rifle effectively, you need to "load" the bipod by pressing your shoulder forward into the rifle. On smooth or hard ground, bipod feet will slide away from you. The front of our mat features a sewn-in bipod catch— a reinforced strap of heavy duty nylon webbing that gives your bipod feet a solid wall to dig into.

4. Deployment: The Accordion Panel-Fold Technique

We prioritized durability and performance over building the lightest weight mat possible. Use the accordion technique (as opposed to “rolling”) to re-secure your mat and then buckle it securely closed. The benefit when you deploy it is that it lays perfectly flat instantly with no curling edges blowing in the wind. For transport, it fits comfortably in a GR1 26L.

5. Environmental Controls: Grommets

Grommets/Stake Loops: In 20 mph winds, a lightweight mat will wrap around you like a taco. That’s bad. Our mat features reinforced stake loops at the corners so you can pin the mat to the dirt as needed.

6. Additional Cadre Usage

Cadre and others have been known to use it as a sleeping pad (called by its other name!) during extended GORUCK Event Ops. The closed cell foam is a very supportive layer on concrete floors as you grab some shut eye till your next shift. Bonus points if you also have your woobie on hand.

Note: we designed this Shooting Mat with specific Tier 1 requirements in mind and built it in MultiCam per request (despite over $100 in licensing fees per item). This is a one-time build for us, serving those who serve with a limited offering available here, at break even pricing. It's one of those pieces of gear we built because we tell people we can build anything they want, and sometimes they cash in that favor. We work for you, but when it’s gone, it’s gone.

In Special Forces, we were issued a rifle, a pistol, optics and night vision goggles to deploy with and keep locked in a 1700 Pelican Case during transport. Space is always at a premium, so we would also throw in stuff we wanted to stay together, like tourniquets and our weapons cleaning kits.

The problem was that the Pelican case was issued with foam, and the last guy cut it up to suit his gear, and the guy after him cut it up even more. And my gear is different, too, and the foam is now mutilated and doesn’t work as intended.

For maximum modularity of YOUR kit, we developed the GORUCK Rifle Case to fit perfectly in a Pelican 1700 and comparable hard cases. Inside the Rifle Case, we utilize Velcro based accessories to secure your sensitive items onto a fully lined Buffalo Fuzz Loop interior. This allows you to stay organized no matter the accessories you have now, or will have. If you add a silencer or change optics or need to secure additional sensitive items, you can easily change the interior of the Rifle Case around. And when your kids inherit it, they can make it theirs, too.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

• "Hard Case" Compatibility: This soft case is specifically engineered for a precise, snug fit inside industry-standard hard shells, such as the Pelican™ 1700. Fly with the protection of a hard case, then deploy with the mobility of a soft case.
  
• Silent Hardware: Heavy-duty YKK zippers feature silent heat-shrink paracord pulls, eliminating the metallic jingle of standard zipper systems.
  
• Full Buffalo Fuzz Loop Lining: The entire internal surface—top, bottom, and side walls—is covered in heavy-duty Buffalo Fuzz, which comes in fabric rolls as opposed to “strips” of Velcro - making this a much more elegant solution. The interior is an open platform where you can position retention straps anywhere to lock down everything from a broken-down carbine to a suppressed SBR.
  
• Lay-Flat Work Surface: The case opens a full 180 degrees, turning the bag into a debris-free workstation at the range for field maintenance or staging.
  
• Bundle Includes: 1 full length moveable divider, 4 quarter dividers, 1 magazine pouch that holds 4, 5.56 magazines.

The GORUCK Retention Caddy 2 Piece Set uses two Hook-and-Loop (Velcro-style) interfaces. Use one set per rifle or pistol. Once your gear is locked in, it doesn't move until you move it.

A low-profile attachment designed for fast access and secure carry. The fully hook-and-loop back allows it to mount cleanly to shooters or other compatible surfaces. Two adjustable hook-and-loop retention straps hold items firmly in place, while the centered elastic strap can accommodate smaller items. The flat, minimalist design keeps bulk to a minimum and stays out of the way until it’s needed.

There's a special pocket next to the body, lined with padded buffalo fuzz that is the perfect spot for either (1) your phone or (2) your concealed carry pistol. For us, versatility is the name of the game.

When rucking, the fanny pack keeps your pockets empty and gives you a spot for plenty of lickies and chewies, too. Silent zipper pulls don't make noise and the back panel is friendly to the skin.
